NACCAP Rookie of the Year Award

Goal

To provide recognition for an outstanding rookie professional within each region of NACCAP

Scope

To be chosen annually representing each region and will be awarded at the annual conference

Anyone from any region may nominate someone for a Rookie of the Year Award irrespective of the region in which the nominator resides

Considerations

Members of the NACCAP Board of Directors or NACCAP staff are not eligible for consideration.

Any member of a staff may be nominated for the award including assistants, associates, and senior directors or deans, guidance counselors, admissions counselors, recruiters, visit coordinators, office managers, etc.

Criteria

  1. Nominees must have at least six months but less than two years of service in the admissions/counseling profession at a NACCAP member institution.
  2. Nominees should be considered for significant contributions made to the profession and NACCAP that would otherwise go unnoticed. Outstanding efforts to serve the needs of the nominee’s institution are appropriate to consider for receiving this award.

Criteria

Nominations should not be considered solely on numerical success in achieving enrollment or counseling goals but rather on contributions made to the betterment of the whole.

Notes

(These are examples of characteristics that may be demonstrated by potential nominees. The list is not intended to be exhaustive but rather descriptive of exhibited qualities.)

Nominees may be someone who has caught the vision for promoting the benefits of Christian higher education and is able to effectively communicate those benefits to prospective students and their families.

Nominees may be someone who has exceptional organizational skills and is able to effectively help facilitate events or who exhibits creative ideas that have proven successful at their institution.

Nominees may be someone who regularly exceeds goals and objectives for the accomplishment of his or her institution’s successful attainment of their recruitment objectives.

Nominees may be someone who exhibits maturity in guiding students to find the college or university best suited to their needs even if it means directing them to another institution.

Nominees may be someone that promotes hospitality in all that he or she does to enhance the work environment.

Requests should be e-mailed or returned to: Krista Meckling, NACCAP Coordinator for Membership Services and Communication: krista@naccap.org, PO Box 5211 Huntington, IN 46750, fax: 260-359-0101 by Monday, April 26, 2010.
