Need some ideas for free time on Tuesday, June 7th? Check out these great options below.
You can drive there yourself, or tell us you need a ride by indicating that on your registration.
Excursion 1 - San Diego downtown (See the city, shop and eat!) We'll shuttle you to San Diego's Historic Gaslamp District, close to Petco Park and Seaport Village and home to Horton Plaza, one of San Diego's favorite shopping areas!
Excursion 2 - Coronado Island and beach (Experience San Diego history, then lay out on the same beach as Marilyn Monroe did!) Hop on a shuttle for a 15 minute ride to beautiful Coronado Island. We'll drop you off at the Hotel del Coronado, one of the area's top resort destinations, where you can walk around the historic hotel, check out the resort shops or the stores on Orange Street, grab a snack, and end up at the Coronado Beach - one of the 2010 America's Best Beaches!
Excursion 3 - Balboa Park (catch up on your culture, see the pandas, or play disc golf). Balboa Park is home to 15 museums (including the San Diego Museum of Art, the Natural History Museum, the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center, and more), beautiful parks and botanical gardens, and the world famous San Diego Zoo (and don't worry-you can buy discounted Zoo tickets through PLNU for being a NACCAP visitor! Just contact ShannonHutchison@pointloma.edu for more information!). We'll put you in the middle of it all!
Excursion 4 - Surfing Lessons! Come spend the afternoon with some legit SoCal surfers who will start from the beginning, and hope to get you up on a wave by the end! Boards, etc., can be rented at the PLNU Rec Room for less than $10. (P.S. this is actually on campus)

San Diego Zoo
We're proud to be located in San Diego-America's Finest City! While you're visiting PLNU, we hope you take advantage of visiting the World Famous San Diego Zoo! As a part of NACCAP, you can get Zoo and Safari Park tickets at the Point Loma Visit discount rate. Adult tickets are $33.50 per ticket, as opposed to $40 at the gate! Here are the details:
- The San Diego Zoo, located in Balboa Park, is one of San Diego's most famous attractions-and a place PLNU students love to visit! With literally thousands of animals, you'll be entertained for hours! Just check out their website!
- All tickets are valid for up to one year after the purchase date.
- Tickets even include extras! At the Zoo, your ticket includes the use of Guided Bus Tour, Express Bus, Skyfari Aerial Tram. At the Safari park, your ticket includes the Africa Tram Safari!
